If it's your first time...

Making a Will is often a big step for first-timers. Many people are put off by the complicated language and the sobering thought of preparing a document for the inevitable. We're here to reassure you and keep things simple. Most of our clients are incredibly surprised at how straightforward the process is; how we don't use unnecessary technical words when discussing your wishes.

 

If you're updating your Will...

Once you have a Will in place, it's essential to keep it up to date. We recommend reviewing your wishes every 2-4 years. Here are just some of the reasons to review your Will:

• Has anyone moved address?

• Are the children no longer minors?

• Is your choice of Executors and Trustees still correct?

• Is the Distribution still in accordance with your wishes?

• Has anyone got married, changed their name or perhaps you wish to ensure that your own child's inheritance is fully protected rather than risk it passing to the son-in-law or daughter-in-law? 

• Are possible future care costs a concern now and you would like to speak to someone about protecting your home?

The process

1. First we'll have a chat about your thoughts and situation. This gives us an opportunity to provide you with some initial advice & tips.

2. You'll next complete a simple online form which captures the outline details of the people to be involved with your Will.

3. We'll then get together again on the phone or via a video/zoom call and go through everything; during this call we'll make any recommendations to achieve your wishes which will be followed up by email.

4. If required, a final call may be arranged for you to confirm your wishes before your document drafting commences. We really do encourage you to take your time and ask us anything that's on your mind.
